What is Spirulina? In simple words, Spirulina is a type of healthy algae that is blue-green in color and grows in both fresh and saline waters sustaining by Photosynthesis. It has been recognized as one of the most nutritious super-foods in the world.
How is our Spirulina harvested? Once grown, our farmers use super fine nylon filters to separate Spirulina biomass from liquid cultures and then wash the harvest in water for a couple of times before drying. This is then dried in the sun and ground to get the powder.
Powerhouse of nutrients – Spirulina is one of the only plant-based foods with protein content as high as 60%. Every teaspoon of 7g contains more than 4g of protein and almost all other essential nutrients including magnesium and potassium.
Good for gut and heart – Spirulina is known for improving metabolism which aids a healthy digestion. It also lowers the bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels and improves good cholesterol levels, thus increasing heart health.
Reduces nasal allergies – Allergies to dust, pollen, pet hair are very common in people. Including Spirulina in routine helps reduce these allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion and itching.
Rich in antioxidants – Rich in natural antioxidants, Spirulina has an active compound known as “Phycocyanin” which helps fight free radicals and reduces inflammatory effects in the body.
How to consume? You can add one teaspoon to a glass of water and drink it straight. It can also be added to juices, smoothies, shakes, soups or even desserts, pastas and breads to boost the nutritional value of the dishes!
